Fears are being raised about the future of banana production - due to the spread of Panama disease.
The International Banana Congress due to take place this week in Costa Rica - has been moved to Miami so that attendees won't transport the disease to the region.
Latin America is the primary source of bananas for North America and Europe.

The disease has already spread from Asia to parts of Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
Panama disease is a plant disease of the roots of banana plants. The pathogen is resistant to fungicide and cannot be controlled chemically.
