The family of the late Michael Dwyer say they are concerned about the length of time it will take to launch an independent inquiry into his death.
Last night the president of Bolivia offered his condolences to the Dwyer family - saying his office would support a fact finding mission and investigation.
Mr Dwyer (24) was shot and killed by Bolivian security forces in 2009 in Santa Cruz.
The Bolivian government claimed the 24-year-old had been part of an assassination squad conspiring to murder President Evo Morales, which has been disputed by the Dwyer family.
The Bolivian public prosecutor who investigated Dwyer's killing said there was no evidence of a conspiracy, or that Michael had any criminal link to the case.
President Morales is on a two-day state visit to Ireland, and Michael's mother Caroline met with his officials.
She says it is important for her family that they are getting support from the Government here, and that the case is being brought up with high level Bolivian authorities:
As part of his trip to Ireland, President Morales has met with Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan and President Michael D Higgins.
The two presidents had a 'warm' meeting at Áras an Uachtarán, and discussed climate change, the role of indigenous people and the elimination of global poverty.
