Ryanair moves to clarify options for passengers affected by cancellations

Ryanair has clarified customer entitlements for passengers affected by cancellations.

It has issued a clarification e-mail to all affected customers - outlining their rights to refunds, re-routing on Ryanair or on other carriers and expenses.

Ryanair says it has e-mailed all customers who were affected by 2,100 flight cancellations in September and October - as well as the 18,000 schedule changes, announced on Wednesday, to explain their entitlements.

Plain cigarette packaging comes into force

Cigarette and tobacco products here are to feature standardised packaging from Saturday September 30th.

This means all forms of branding - such as trademarks, logos, colours and graphics - are being removed from packs.

The brand and variant names will be in a uniform typeface and colour.

The National Wax Museum Plus say repairs are being undertaken on a waxwork of Pope John Paul II after it was damaged.

A spokesperson said the incident happened back in August, but is just now coming to light.

One of their staff members made the discovery while doing a daily check-up.

Number of homeless children rises above 3,000 for first time

The number of homeless children in Ireland has risen above 3,000 for the first time.

The latest figures from the Department of Housing show that there were 8,270 homeless people in Ireland in August – a rise of 110 from the month of July.

There were 3,048 children in emergency accommodation – up from 2973 in the previous month.

New figures show steep drop in number of UK visitors to Ireland

New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show there is an overall increase of visitors to Ireland.

However, there is continued concern in the the decline of visitor numbers from Britain.

Some 6,714,600 overseas visitors came here from January to August this year.
