Memo reveals Harris was informed of €191m children's hospital cost overrun in August

Health Minister Simon Harris has again insisted he did not know about the full scale of the cost overrun for the new children's hospital until November.

It comes after it emerged that health officials were told in August and September last year of rising costs at the national children's hospital.

Following the release of internal Department of Health memos this evening, Sinn Féin claims the Health Minister's position is 'untenable'.

Labour Court expected to review nurses' dispute tomorrow

It’s expected the Labour Court will review the strike by nurses tomorrow morning, in an effort to avert widespread disruption to the health service next week.

Three strike days - by members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) and the Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) - are due to take place next week amid the continuing dispute over pay and staff shortages.

The planned industrial action could see over 80,000 patients potentially having their medical appointments cancelled.
