As part of a joint operation between Revenues Customs Service, Garda Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and Gardaí from Drugs Unit in Galway a search took place at a house in Knocknacarra and approximately 4.7kgs of herbal cannabis was seized.
The drugs had originated in Cotonou, Benin in West Africa and were concealed in dried fish.
A woman was arrested at the scene and is being held at Galway Garda Station, and the investigation is on-going.
Luas drivers and Transdev accept pay deal
On Monday, SIPTU said the Labour Court had recommended wage increases of 15.6% to 18.3% for drivers between now and September 2020.
Today, SIPTU members voted in favour of the deal which was accepted by both Transdev and the drivers.
