Camerawoman fired after video shows her kicking & tripping refugees

A camerawoman in Hungary was fired after video emerged apparently showing her kicking and deliberately tripping refugees - including a man running while carrying a child.

The incident took place on the Hungarian border with Serbia. The reporter works for Hungarian station N1TV.

Did a Longford Town player fool the country in thinking he forgot about a game?

The Leinster Senior Cup is not the most glamorous of competitions in the world.

Longford Town's Pat Flynn is currently injured as his side were in action last night against Shamrock Rovers.

The 30-year-old decided to entertain himself and fool the country in "forgetting" about the game.

Juncker on refugee crisis: There are more O'Neills and Murphys in the US than Ireland

The president of the European Commission says the European Union needs to take a further 120,000 refugees.

In a major speech to the European Parliament, Jean-Claude Juncker said that Italy, Greece and Hungary could not be left to cope with the refugee crisis alone.

Speaking earlier, Mr Juncker criticised member states for arguing amongst themselves instead of acting to alleviate the crisis.

British Airways plane bursts into flames at Las Vegas airport

A British Airways plane bound for London with 172 people on board has burst into flames on the tarmac at Las Vegas Airport.

The Boeing 777-200 was preparing to take off shortly after 4pm (local time) on Tuesday when its left engine caught fire, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

The 159 passengers and 13 crew were evacuated using emergency slides as around 50 firefighters tackled the blaze, while 14 people were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin has been accused of running an "old boys' brigade", after a former junior minister was added to a general election ticket on top of the existing candidate.

Councillor Deirdre Heney - who won the party nomination for Dublin Bay North in June - made the comments as the party announced that Sean Haughey would join her on the ticket.
