'Beijing will not step back' - China rejects court ruling on disputed waters

A tribunal in The Hague has rejected China's claims to economic rights across large swathes of the South China Sea.

"There was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the 'nine-dash line'," the court said.

This was a reference to a demarcation line on a 1947 map of the sea, which is rich in energy, mineral and fishing resources.

At least 25 people have been killed after two trains collided head-on in southern Italy.

Dozens of other passengers were injured, some seriously, in the crash near the town of Andria.

The four-carriage passenger trains, thought to be mainly carrying commuters, collided in the middle of an olive grove in the Puglia region of Italy.

Bernie Sanders endorses Hillary Clinton for president

Bernie Sanders has endorsed Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States.

The endorsement comes ahead of the Democratic National Convention later this month, where Mrs Clinton is expected to be declared the party's presidential candidate.

Speaking at a Clinton campaign event today in New Hampshire, Senator Sanders acknowledged that his former rival has won more delegates and said "she will be the Democratic nominee for president".
