The Taoiseach has said European people like to see decisions followed through, on the issue of retroactive recapitalisation of the banks.
Speaking to Bloomberg at the World Economic Forum in Davos this morning, Enda Kenny said the European Council took a clear decision in June 2012, to break the link between sovereign and bank debt.
He said the European Stability Mechanism held out the possibility of direct recapitalisation of banks and his government is continuing to work on securing that.
Meanwhile the Taoiseach has laughed off suggestions that he is on his way to Europe.
Media reports have linked him to the roles of either Head of the European Commission or European Council.
Enda Kenny insists his ambition is to lead Fine Gael to a second term in office.
