Eleven primary school children escaped injury yesterday morning when a tree fell on the bus bringing them to school.

At around 9.50am yesterday morning, the Home James minibus was travelling up the hill at Lisnennan when the driver noticed the tree in front begin to fall.

He immediately slowed the bus down, and the tree hit the front of the vehicle.

Donegal Democrat reporter Diarmuid Doherty came on the scene minutes after it happened and snapped a picture of the incident.

The driver has since been praised for his quick thinking.
