An elderly woman has died after falling from her 4th floor apartment in Dublin.

It is believed the victim was cleaning the windows of her flat in Avondale House on Cumberland Street when the accident happened at around 9pm last night.

The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Her death is being described as an accident.
