Andy Murray has shared his excitement as he gears up for his wedding to long-time girlfriend Kim Sears in his home town.

As the tennis star left the rehearsal at the Dunblane Cathedral with his bride-to-be on Friday, he was asked if he was excited about the big day.

"Very," he was quick to respond to the waiting media.

The Wimbledon and US Open champion will wed Sears, his partner of nine years, this afternoon in Dunblane.

The Perthshire town is buzzing as it prepares to host its most famous son's wedding.

Proud locals have been putting bunting up and one butcher has even produced special heart-shaped burgers for the occasion.

Another store has a message in a heart wishing the pair an "ace day," while a charity shop has mocked up Kim and Andy in wedding gear for its window display.

"It's good for Dunblane," one man told Sky News.

"We've had some bad things here in the past, but this is a heartwarming thing, which is excellent."

Another local described Murray as "a hero here."

"Andy's just gorgeous. I think they're gorgeous and I hope they have a great time," one woman said.

"You can see what it means to everybody here - there's bunting and flowers out. They are all happy."

The ceremony is scheduled for late afternoon and is expected to be conducted by Reverend Colin Renwick at the 12th century cathedral.

Traffic restrictions will be in place as hundreds of people are expected to watch the couple - who live in Oxshott, Surrey - arrive for the ceremony.

Murray revealed recently he will have three best men: his brother Jamie, and friends Ross Hutchins and Carlos Mier.
Sussex-born Sears, 27, will have four bridesmaids.

Murray will don his kilt, but the style and design of Sears' bridal gown remains a secret.

Dunblane will also be playing host to several big names in the tennis world; former British number one Tim Henman is expected to be among those on the guest list.

The reception will be held at Cromlix House, the luxury hotel Murray bought two years ago.

Murray and Sears, an English literature graduate and artist, met as teenagers through tennis circles - she is the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears.

Murray has suggested in the past that her family background has helped the couple's relationship to flourish.

"It has been good because her dad is a tennis coach and he still travels on the tour," he said.

"She understands the sport well and is used to being away from her dad from a young age.

"She understands that sort of distant relationship, and yes it works well."
