Dublin man charged with possession of gun following search after road collision

A Dublin man who was arrested following a minor road collision on the M50 has appeared in court charged with possession of an improvised gun and ammunition.

42 year old Jason Maher of Fairlawn Park, Finglas, has been released on bail.

Gardai were called to the scene of a minor road crash northbound on the M50 at around 11.30 yesterday morning.

Jason Maher was arrested brought to Ballyfermot Garda Station – he was searched and subsequently charged with possessing an improvised firearm and ammunition.

The court heard today that when he was asked if he had a reply to the charges he said 'nothing'.

His mobile phone has been seized as part of the investigation.

Judge Michael Walsh has remanded Jason Maher on bail until his next court appearance on March 4th.

The 42 year old who was dressed in runners, jeans and a black jacket was told he's to sign on daily at Finglas Garda Station, keep out of Clondalkin and stay sober.
