Part of Dublin's College Green will closed to cars next year under a new pilot scheme.

Dublin City Council wants to make the area into a "pedestrian-friendly" plaza.

The plans will see the area in front of the Bank of Ireland building blocked off to traffic - while a two-way system will be introduced in front of Trinity College.

The Irish Times' Dublin Correspondent Olivia Kelly says it could be the first step towards a full-time ban on cars in the area:

Organised by Dublin City Council, Hidden Rooms is a future thinking conference event designed to stimulate collaborative efforts that will deliver innovative solutions to Dublin city issues, which include plans to turn College Green into civic space:
