Today

Cold, with frost and mist patches gradually clearing this morning to leave a dry day in many places with sunny spells.

A few light showers will still occur though, mainly near eastern and northern coasts.

Typical maximum temperatures will range between 5 and 8 degrees, in light northerly or variable breezes.

Tonight

Dry and cold tonight in light westerly or variable breezes.

Clear skies over much of the country at first, with temperatures dropping to between minus 3 and plus 1 degrees Celsius allowing a widespread frost to form and producing some icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Cloud will tend to increase over the northern half of the country overnight, however, resulting in temperatures recovering a little in these parts before dawn.

Areas of mist will thicken to fog some parts.
