Move over selfies it is all about the delfie. The no make-up selfie has dominated social media site Twitter for the last two weeks - raising over €1 million for the Irish Cancer Society.

Now our furry friends are doing the same for Irish Guide Dogs. To get involved take a selfie of your dog and text WOOF to 57500.

You will be charged €2.50 per text plus a standard rate. Irish Guide Dogs say €1.90 of that will go to them after VAT and operator fees are deducted.

They provide services to people who are vision-impaired and children with autism.

It comes after the organisation was forced to close its assistance dog programme for children with autism for a second time.

The charity made the announcement this morning, on World Autism Day, saying it was down to a lack of funding.

Irish Guide Dogs says there was a huge over-demand for assistance dogs with a two to three year wait-list.

There are currently 240 families in Ireland with autism assistance dogs.
