Cyclist injured following collision in Cork

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Cork yesterday evening after a cyclist was seriously injured.

A 32 year-old woman was found injured on the side of the road at Glen South, Naad, Kanturk by a passerby at around 5.30pm.

She was removed to Cork University Hospital -her injuries are described as serious.

The scene has been preserved while gardai carry out a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kanturk Garda Station.

 

In a separate incident, a post mortem is to be carried out on the body of a child who died following a quad bike accident in Co Clare.

Eight year old Ultan Hayes was rushed to Limerick Regional Hospital after the accident and then transferred to Temple Street, where he lost his fight for life last night.

The boy had been on a quad bike with his 41 year old father, when it hit a stone wall in Whitegate, Co Clare on Thursday night.

Gardai are carrying out an investigation into the collision.
