A cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a car on the N18 near Limerick.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes near Junctions 8 and 9.

Gardaí said the man was treated at the scene for “serious injuries” and has been taken to Limerick Hospital.

The road was closed heading southbound and diversions were in place.
