Parents and teachers need to be aware of just how distressing cyber-bullying can be for victims - and what signs to look out for.

Cyber-bullying has been making headlines in recent months, after being linked with the deaths of two teenage girls in counties Leitrim and Donegal.

Today's event - 'Screenagers' - is aimed at teaching young people to use digital and social media in a way that's safe.

A conference in Dublin today - being hosted by the National Youth Council of Ireland - aims to help young people use technology for fun and education, while protecting themselves from unwanted risks.

NYCI Director, Mary Cunningham, says adults need to keep on eye on young people - and watch for any changes in their usual behaviour.

The event takes place in The Science Gallery today and more information can be found here www.nyciconference.ie.
