Croke Park has waged war on a flock of pigeons that have been camping out on the pitch during games.

It is believed an on-going seeding programme is the attraction for the birds.

While a nearby railway bridge gives them lots of roosting space.

A real hawk has been brought in to try and scare away the pesky birds.

A flock of brazen pigeons stayed on the pitch for most of both All-Ireland football quarter finals last weekend.

The stadium director Peter McKenna says they are more vermin than pigeon.

He says they have also used bird of prey kites - and other tactics - from time to time.
