Former Taoiseach Brian Cowen says there is no one as sorry as he is regarding the Irish economic crash.
He made the statement last night in Co. Offaly after criticism for not apologising in a TG4 interview to be aired next week.
In the 'Cómhrá' programme the former Fianna Fail leader says he still stands over the controversial decision to guarantee the failing banks and also claims he never saw the financial crisis coming.
Speaking to media in Edenderry he said that as far as he wass aware there was no government in Europe or the developed world that foresaw the implosion.
However he said he does take responsibility for his role.
Mr. Cowen also responded to the accusation from current Taoiseach Enda Kenny that there was an axis of collusion between the then Fianna Fáil party and Anglo Irish bankers.
