More COVID-19 patients have now died in the US than in China according to official figures.
Some 3,393 people have now died in the US, with officials in China claiming that 3,305 people have died so far.
The US now has the third highest death toll in the world, after Italy and Spain.
The toll rose after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said 332 people had died across the state since Monday.
Italy remains the worst affected country in the world with 11,591 deaths, followed by Spain with 8,189.
In the UK, a further 393 people died over the past 24 hours taking the total there to 1,808.
Eighty-two people have now died on the island of Ireland – 28 in the North and 52 in the Republic.
More than 40,000 people have now died around the world, according to Johns Hopkins figures, with over 823,000 confirmed cases.
