A court’s heard there were ‘fights going on everywhere’ on the night a man was allegedly stabbed to death in North Dublin.

35-year-old Gary Watson denies murdering Warren O’Connor in Donaghmede nine years ago following a row over loud music.

Witness Graham Hogan said he was drinking at a 50th birthday party with Warren O’Connor and some others in January 2010 when Warren got a phonecall to say there was hassle at a friend’s apartment.

The court heard the two men – along with three others – drove to the Grattan Wood apartment complex in Donaghmede and banged on the door of one of the apartments.

Mr Hogan said there loads of people there, there was screaming and shouting and he saw knives.

He said a man with him went to another apartment and also grabbed knives, and some time after that ‘it just went mental’ and ‘everyone was punching and kicking’.

He said some of them went to leave in a car but another car hit them.

He said there was then ‘fights going on everywhere’ and he then saw, as he described it, ‘Warren on the deck’.

He said he had been messed up for 10 years because of what happened.

35-year-old Gary Watson of Millbrook Avenue, Kilbarrack, Dublin denies murdering Warren O’Connor on the night in question.
