A key prosecution witness has been giving evidence in the trial of two Limerick men charged with murdering businessman Roy Collins (35) five years ago.
Gareth Collins told the Special Criminal Court he was offered €20,000 by Wayne Dundon and Nathan Killeen to drive the getaway car but said he wanted no part of it.
Wayne Dundon (35) of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect and Nathan Killeen (23) of Hyde Road, Prospect deny killing Roy Collins, who was shot once in the chest at the amusement arcade he ran at the Roxboro Shopping Centre on April 9th, 2009.
The prosecution alleges Wayne Dundon organised the murder from behind bars and that Nathan Killeen was the driver.
Gareth Collins is currently serving a 7 and a half years prison term after pleading guilty to demanding money with menaces and making threats to kill.
He said he was asked to drive the car as part of a plan to 'whack' Roy Collins's father Steve Collins who ran the bar beside the 'Coin Castle' amusement arcade.
The non-jury court heard he has known the Dundons for around 15 years, and spent time in a cell with Wayne Dundon.
Earlier today, Steve Collins described comforting his son Roy in the aftermath of the shooting.
He said his son told him how much he loved him and his mother, but could not identify who had fired the gun at him.
