A Dublin teenager allegedly caught red-handed with a sword in the front yard of Leinster House is to get bail.

The District Court heard evidence Jordan Buckley (19) from Kells Road in Crumlin did not have any one particular person in mind as a target.

Mr. Buckley appeared in court this afternoon wearing a vest top and jeans.

He is accused of being armed with a sword in the front yard of Leinster House yesterday afternoon. Garda Dwayne Conlon gave evidence that the teenager made no reply after arrest, charge and caution.

Garda Conlon objected to bail on a number of grounds including the seriousness of the charge - which carries a maximum sentence of five years - the nature of the evidence, which includes a number of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage and finally because it is alleged Mr. Buckley was caught red-handed.

However Judge Michael Walsh was minded to grant bail to the accused once he lodges €250 with the court. He is to appear again on this day week.

The unemployed teen has been ordered to sign on three times a week and to stay away from Dublin 2 and any government buildings and departments - except the dole office.
