There has been a total of 3,214 COVID-19 related deaths and 193,892 cases here.

These figures include the denotifications of one death and seven cases.

Of the cases notified on Friday:

  • 587 are men / 658 are women
  • 54% are under 45 years of age
  • The median age is 42 years old

Some 437 cases are in Dublin, 146 in Cork, 76 in Meath, 69 in Wexford, and 62 in Kildare.

The remaining 464 cases are spread across all other counties.

As of 2.00pm, 1,518 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised - of which 211 are in ICU.

There have been 51 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Latest available figures show 147,700 people have received their first vaccine dose, with 13,800 getting a second dose.

It comes as Health Minister Stephen Donnelly confirmed Ireland will receive doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine a week earlier than planned.

The drug was approved for use across the EU by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) earlier on Friday.

Minister Donnelly told The Hard Shoulder: "We've succeeded in getting it in a bit earlier. The contract was to get it in the week of the 15th of February.

"I can confirm now, for the first time, that it's been agreed that we will get it in the week of the 8th of February.

"It may not be the 8th, but the week of the 8th.

"So a week earlier: that means we can get it out, get it into people's arms and get people protected that little bit earlier as well".
