There have now been a total of 72,544 cases of the virus in the Republic, with 2,053 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.

As of 2pm this afternoon, there were 244 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals - including 31 in intensive care.

The latest figures also show the current 14-day incidence rate of the virus at 89 per 100,000.

It comes as the country prepares to start reopening, with non-essential retail, gyms, hairdressers, museums and cinemas allowed open again from tomorrow.
