Two men have appeared in court in connection with a series of robberies in Cork - including one where a woman suffered a fractured skull after she was attacked by a man armed with a machete.
Brian Veale (30) of Dominic Street in Cork city was brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday, and charged with two separate robbery offences.
Mr Veale was charged with the robbery of an American student (19) at Dominic Street on February 26th.
He was also charged with the attempted robbery of a man (20) at the same location on the same night.
A second man, Dean O'Driscoll (24), also of Dominic Street, was charged with the robbery of a woman aged in her 20s on Gerald Griffin Street in Cork on February 22nd.
Gardaí objected to bail in both cases, and Judge Olann Kelleher remanded both in custody to appear at Cork District Court on March 5th.
