The Constitutional Convention has passed a vote calling for a referendum on same-sex marriage.

79 of the 100 members who voted were in favour of the motion.

The results will now be passed to the Oireachtas as a recommendation.

The result was announced by Convetion Chairman Tom Arnold to applause from the Convention floor.
