Works to extend the Green Luas line are underway and the College Green bus corridor has been closed to motorists between 7 O'clock in the morning and 7 O'clock in the evening.

You can still use College Green and surrounds at nighttime or on the weekends, but if you are used to driving through the city centre during off peak daytime hours you will now need a re-think.

Luas cross city has suggested an alternative inner orbital route to get you around Dublin, see it here below.

Believe it or not the College Green bus corridor has been in operation since 2009. So you are probably well used to it, but in case you are not, the map above shows the affected junctions.

Luascrosscity suggests the route mapped above as an alternative for drivers who might now be confused about how to get around. View a pdf version of that map here.

The route takes you from Beresford Place on the northside, across the Liffey, down past the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Lombard St., onto Westland Row, across to Merrion Square and onto Fitzwilliam St. From there you are being encouraged to drive to Stephen's Green's southside via Fitzwilliam St., then from there along Cuffe St. and Lower Kevin St., via Patrick St. to the Liberties. The route then takes you via High St. back down onto the South Quays and across from Usher's Quay to Blackhall Place. Then once back on the north side you are being directed up North King St. and King's Inn St. and across to the north city centre.
