Today

A cold start today with frost and patches of freezing fog slow to clear in places, leading to difficult driving conditions.

A dry and sunny day is expected with highest temperatures generally 6 to 9 degrees, a good deal lower where fog lingers into the afternoon.

Light variable winds will back southeasterly later in the day and freshen along Atlantic coasts.

Tonight

Tonight cloud will thicken from the west with rain on the west coast overnight, slowly spreading eastwards in to Connacht and West Munster.

Lowest temperatures will be between plus 1 and plus 4 degrees, coldest in the north with a light to moderate southeast wind.

Status Yellow - Low-Temperature warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary

Minimum air temperatures will range -2 to -4 degrees Celsius. Widespread severe frost with the risk of icy patches. Some pockets of freezing fog also.

Valid until 10am.
