Today

Cloudy and windy today, with rain extending eastwards across the country to all parts during the morning.

Some dry spells will develop in places during the day, especially inland, but rain will persist in some areas, especially in Atlantic coastal counties and in southern coastal areas, where there will be some locally heavy bursts, with a slight risk of thunder on the west coast.

Maximum temperatures 11 to 13 Celsius.

Tonight

Tonight will be windy and mostly cloudy, with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy for a time, with a risk of spot flooding.

Clearer, mainly dry conditions, will follow from the west and northwest and it will turn colder.

Minimum temperatures 4 to 6 Celsius.

Fresh to strong southerly winds will veer west to northwest with the clearance, strengthening further along west and northwest coasts with gales developing.

National Weather Warning

There is a yellow wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Kerry.

Met Éireann says southerly winds of 50 to 65 km/h are expected, with gusts of 90 to 110km/h along coastal areas on Wednesday.
