Hillary Clinton has called for a number of changes to gun control legislation in the United States in the wake of the worst mass shooting in the country's history.
Speaking in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee stated that "on Sunday, Americans woke up to a nightmare that's become mind-numbingly familiar".
Clinton added that "the attack in Orlando makes it even more clear, we cannot contain this threat. We must defeat it," noting that stopping "lone wolf" attackers is one of the most challenging tasks facing the intelligence forces in the country.
The former Secretary of State highlighted that there were a number of key areas which she would concentrate on as president in order to ensure that the type of attack seen on Sunday would not happen again, one of which was changing gun control laws.
Referring back to the Sandy Hook shootings, as well as the San Bernardino attacks earlier in the year, Clinton noted that the availability of assault rifles, such as the one used in the Orlando shootings, was something which needed to be changed.
"I believe weapons of war have no place on our streets, and we may have our disagreements about gun safety regulations, but we should all be able to agree on a few essential things.
"If the FBI is watching you for suspected terrorist links, you shouldn't be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked. And you shouldn't be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show. If you're too dangerous to get on a plane, you're too dangerous to buy a gun in America."

In contrast to her opponent in November's general election, Clinton stated that "we and our allies must work hand in hand to dismantle the networks that move money and propaganda and fighters around the world.
"We have to stem the flow of jihadists from Europe and America to Iraq, Syria, Afhganistan and back again, working closely with out partners and strengthening our alliances, not weakening them or walking away from them."
She added that "too often state and local officials can't get access to intelligence from the Federal government that would help them do their jobs," and called for closer ties and better funding to be given to help "protect vulnerable so-called soft targets" such as cinemas, night clubs and houses of worship.

Clinton also highlighted that there needs to be a strong move from the American government to attempt to counter propaganda online, stating that "we have to do a better job intercepting ISIS's communications [...] and mapping jihadist networks".
