Ireland’s largest independent bookstore is to close its doors after nearly 40 years in business.

Chapters Bookstore on Parnell Street in Dublin has announced plans to close early next year.

In a post online, shop management offered a “sincere thank you” to all their customers after 40 wonderful years in business.

The shop was based in various locations around the city over the years including Abbey Street, St Stephen’s Green and Wicklow Street.

It moved to Parnell Street in 2006 where it sold a range of new and second-hand books over two floors.

The shop has now launched a two-for-one closing down sale with just months to go before it closes for the final time.
