Thousands of campaigners from both sides of the abortion divide have taken to the streets of Dublin this afternoon.

Campaigners have come from all over the country in a last ditch effort to convince the government not to vote in favour of the proposed legislation.

It comes ahead of a final vote on the controversial legislation which is due to be put to our lawmakers next week.

These protestors say it should be put to the people:

There’s a huge Garda presence in the capital today but both sides of the campaign are adamant they're not here to cause trouble.

Awaiting the Rally for Life at the Spire on O’Connell Street was the group Action for X.

They believe it’s time the government legislated for the X Case.
