The army bomb squad has been called out in south Dublin after the discovery of potentially unstable material.
The alarm was raised at 8:30am this morning.
It came after the discovery was made at a house that is being renovated at Marino Avenue East in Killiney.
Gardai notified the Defence Forces and the bomb squad was sent out to the scene.
Meanwhile 2 bombs have been made safe in the North after being found near the centre of Derry.
One was discovered hidden in a bag at railings close to the city council offices on Strand Road.
Dissident republicans have been involved in a series of previous attacks in the city.
