The body of a young girl has washed up on a beach in the Izmir region in western Turkey.
She is believed to have been around 4-years-old.
It is understood she may have been one of a group of refugees trying to reach Greece.
AFP reports that the girl – who has not yet been formally identified – was found on a beach in the Aegean town of Cesme in Izmir province.
She was travelling on a boat carrying 15 Syrians to the Greek island of Chios.
The Turkish coast guard rescued all others on the boat, including eight children.
The incident comes just two weeks after the images of the body of drowned three-year-old Syrian refugee Aylan Kurdi laying on a beach in Turkey caused global shock and uproar.
The Turkish coast guard has rescued 53,000 migrants and refugees from the sea this year, according to the Turkish government.
