A Massachusetts band has set up a helpline for any fans who feel they need support, so that everyone can enjoy their gigs in a safe environment.

Speedy Ortiz have just embarked on their latest tour, and they have taken to Facebook to launch a help hotline for anyone who feels harassed or unsafe at one of their shows.

Texts will be passed on to the band themselves, who have promised to communicate any problems to venue security staff so that they can pull the gig-goer out of 'harm's way'.

The mild-mannered band says their new (574) 404-SAFE system is untested and admit it will require tweaking to work effectively.

The 'snack rock' band say they love all their fans and they want them to be safe and to have fun.

Members of the band say the genre they put themselves in, 'snack rocking', is about snacking as much as possible between rocking.
