Downs Syndrome Ireland says fundraising has become more difficult following recent bad publicity surrounding certain charities.

This is in reaction to the recent Irish charity scandals including Irish Autism Action and Console.

The organisation is holding a fundraising fashion show today in which people with Downs Syndrome will take to the catwalk.

Kathleen Fitzsimons, Corporate Fundraiser with Downs Syndrome Ireland, says participants are from around the country: "People don't see the person first. Their confidence, what they've achieved, their personalities. Its just amazing."

"We have 66 families, ages from 3 to 44. They're coming from all over. They're from Dublin of course, Kildare, Wicklow, Waterford. We have Tipperary and Offaly, Kerry, Galway, and Limerick of course as well."

The event will take place in Dublin Castle later today.
