A baby hedgehog who was rescued by a member of the public after he became entangled in plastic is nearly ready to go back into the wild.
Harry the Hoglet was found on Bank Holiday Monday August 3rd and was treated by vets in Drogheda, Co Louth.
They managed to remove a tight band of netting deeply embedded in his chest.
Harry also had another wound on his back, which may have been caused by a garden strimmer.
He has now been transferred to the ISPCA’s National Animal Centre in Co Longford for rehabilitation, and will be released back to the wild once his wounds have fully healed.
The ISPCA is asking people to discard of their rubbish properly.
Chief executive, Dr Andrew Kelly, says Harry would have starved to death if he had not been found.
