Avolon, the aircraft leasing company founded by Clareman, Domhnal Slattery and which listed on the New York stock exchange only last December, has entered exclusive negotiations with the Chinese company, Bohai which has made a €2.6bn offer to buy it.
If this deal goes through it would value the company at 50% more than last December's IPO pricing.
Bohai lodged a $31 per share bid for the Dublin-based firm last month, pipping an earlier approach from another Chinese investor, Avic, worth $30 per share.
The likely deal will generate more than €32m for Mr Slattery and €14m for Chief Commercial Officer, John Higgins.
Dublin is the key global centre for aircraft-leasing companies and a growing number of Chinese aviation-leasing companies have either based themselves in Dublin or acquired companies based here over the past few years.
Avolon CEO Domhnal Slattery joined Down to Business in April to receive the shows Business Person of the Month award.
He spoke to Bobby Kerr at length about Avolon and his career in the aviation industry.
