The Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a homemade bomb that was found last night in Tallaght in Dublin.
The viable device was discovered under a car outside a house in the Glenshane area of Jobstown just after 9pm after gardaí requested the Army's assisstance.
A cordon and traffic restrictions were put in place and a small number of nearby houses were evacuated.
The device was then rendered safe without the need for a controlled explosion and the scene was declared safe at 10.15 pm.
The device was taken away for further technical examination - gardaí have been given all of the component parts to help with their investigation.
