An Army bomb disposal team was called to a school in Co. Wicklow today, after concerns were raised about an unstable chemical in a lab there.

They arrived at Glendalough East Secondary School shortly before half past four and removed the substance to waste ground where a controlled explosion was carried out.

The scene was declared safe at 5.40.
