Gardaí in Galway are appealing for information after a shop manager was held at gunpoint during an armed raid at a shop and post office in Inverin in Connamara.

The manager was out socialising at a pub in Inverin last night and when he went into his car to drive home at around 11:45pm a man carrying a gun jumped into the passenger seat beside him.

He demanded he drive to the shop An Siopa Phobail and there he tied-up the shop manager and stole a substantial amount of cash.
