Earlier this week, a moment from a Coldplay concert in Boston went viral – but not because of the music.
Rather than the viral video having anything to do with the band themselves, it instead caught an alleged affair between a CEO of a billion-dollar tech company and the company’s head of HR.
Journalist Padraig Wilson McCarthy told Lunchtime Live that there’s a lot of layers to the story.
“His name is Andy Byron and he is the CEO of a company called Astronomer, and it’s worth about $1.3 billion, so he’s a bit of a big deal,” he said.
“The woman is Kristin Cabot, she is his company’s HR chief; he actually employed her last November, they didn’t know each other before that.
“He’s always been gushing about her since he’s taken up this role, basically singing praises as being one of his best employees.”
The clip has been posted to all corners of the internet, even having been used as a meme by Ryanair and other large brands.

While the incident might bring most onlookers a light-hearted laugh, divorce and relationship coach Claire Auchmuty said it’s worth remembering that discovering an affair is incredibly traumatic.
“I have to say my heart went to his wife and children because this is the definition of trauma,” she said.
“It’s like you get hit from behind and knocked off your feet; you don’t know which end of you is up, your blood goes cold, you probably want to throw up and you just know your life has changes.”
According to Ms Auchmuty, the virality of the alleged affair could also have an impact on any potential divorce proceedings, depending on which state the case was brought forward in.
