The Minister for Justice is considering rowing back on proposed changes to the age of consent.

In a change of policy from her predecessor, Frances Fitzgerald says she believes lowering the age of consent to 16 could increase the trafficking of teenage prostitutes.

The Sunday Business Post reports that the new sexual offences bill, due to be published shortly, could leave the age of consent at 17.
