For the average user, a tweet might be a spontaneous reaction to anything from a tv show to a pot of yoghurt; but in the corporate world the process is much more laborious.
Business Insider took a look behind the scenes at Huge, a design and advertising agency, to see how they produce social media content. It might just make your head hurt.
An example is given of a tweet advising people to eat Camembert cheese at room temperature. It began with a meeting between the social media team and the project manager about an upcoming cheese campaign, went on to the copywriters (who suggested the Camembert idea), then the designer, back to the social media team, before passing an internal review process with senior staff.
Only then, 45 days after its conception, was it posted to a Twitter account with 100 followers. About a third of the agency's tweets are composed in this fashion, but can this vary depending on the client.
Though the tweet had only accumulated two favourites before the BI article, that now stands as 93 retweets and 642 favourites. So maybe they do know what they're doing after all!
