In today's age of political games and opaqueness, a little tranparency couldn't hurt, could it? Nicholas Rubin thinks it's essential and he's only 16 years-old.
Using data from www.opensecrets.org, the computer whizz-kid has created a browser plugin named Greenhouse, which has lifted the lid on the motivations behind political endeavours. The plugin can be installed on Chrome, Safari, or Firefox and will subsequently highlight the names of any members of Congress regardless of the webpage being visited.
A list detailing the elected officials, the state they represent and a ream of their contributors is available with a hover of the mouse over the individuals name. Also included is dollar amounts and the financial campaign measures they supported.
He may not be able to vote yet, but Rubin has demonstrated an incisive ability to reveal the influence of cash in politics and Greenhouse is far and away the simplest tool currently available for this purpose.
