It’s probably not the first time these musicians were moved to tears during a performance, but it is definitely the first time it was brought on by eating peppers.

Claus Pilgaard, a Danish web celebrity known as ‘Chili Klaus’ for his love of the spicy vegetable, fed some of the world’s hottest chillies to the National Chamber Orchestra in Copenhagen, to shed some light on the troupe’s plight.

DR, the country’s national broadcaster, is calling it a day on the orchestra after 75 years, but Chili Klaus wanted them to go out with a bang – and that comes in the shape of Carolina Reapers, Trinidad Scopion Moruga Blend and Ghost Peppers, some of the most intense chillies in the world.

Now, the video of the orchestra playing Jacob Gade’s Tango Jalousie while they swallow the burning vegetables has had more than a million views online. Check it out, and feel the heat, here:
