Events to celebrate Independence Day will take place across America and here in Ireland today.
American citizens will commemorate the 237th birthday of the United States and the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
Over 2,000 guests are expected to attend the Fourth of July festivities in the Phoenix Park in Dublin - with the Fourth Annual Irish American Flag Football Classic.
While similar events will also go ahead in New Ross in Wexford to mark the US President John F. Kennedy's trip to Ireland in 1963.
