Over 4,800 people took part in this weekend's Hell & Back Titan challenge in Bray, with the last bunch of 'victims' crossing the muddy finish line this afternoon.

To give you an indication of what participants endured over the course of the 12km track, here's some of the colourfully named obstacles they endured: Sniper Alley, Devil's Glen, Rock & Ice Skip Baths, Hell on Earth, Abyss, Electric Shock Runs, Satan's Pit, Hell & High Water and the 10-foot Tessie Wall.

As well as for the sense of accomplishment and insanity, many participate in the event for charity. €101,000 was raised for different charities for Hell and Back Trojan 2013, with many groups and individuals also running the gauntlet this year for good causes.

As we mentioned yesterday, the next Hell & Back event takes place in Ballinacarrow in Co Sligo on 11th October, and the first 2015 dates for Bray have already been announced. You can find out more details on the Hell & Back website.
